The Whittler
Welcome to The Whittler – a personal blog dedicated to the art of wood carving and whittling. Here, I share my handcrafted creations, insights into traditional woodworking techniques, and moments from everyday life. Whether you’re passionate about carving, seeking inspiration, or simply curious, you’re warmly invited to explore.
I’m a wood whittler / carver based in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, UK.
In 2020, inspired by YouTubers Doug Linker and Gene Messer, I picked up my first knife and started whittling. I mostly carve basswood (known as lime wood here in the UK) and cottonwood bark, which I source from Alaska. I usually carve using just a knife, though I occasionally use chisels when working with cottonwood bark.
